Blog #4 - Alexander Wohlert

The ideas for my snapshots came from unique or impacting parts of my life. I first thought about memorable times in my childhood. Then, as I progressed in the assignment, I thought about more recent moments such as when I decided to change my major due to new interests. I wanted to explain and describe why I have interest in certain subjects. The snapshots I chose to include in my rough drafts are ones in which I believe give a good background on my personality and how my life has transitioned from simplicity to the complications of going to college. I thought they would be good for this paper because I can write about them with honesty and creativity, which can't be done on more formal assignments. They were snapshots that I could write about using many details.
There were a few ideas that came to mind but didn't get written. They were about why I enjoy South Florida and certain events that happened in high school, such as prom. I decided they wouldn't fit into this assignment because I wanted to avoid using cliches and writing about events that many people have experienced. I wanted to write about experiences that will be more interesting to the reader.

  1. I like how you chose to not include some snapshots that many people may have similarly experienced. It makes your paper a lot more unique to who you are, and it seems like you want the important experiences in your life as personal as possible. I also like how you say you transition from the simplicity of your youth to the complexity of your adulthood, since it helps retain the point of view from who you were at that point in time.
