Blog #9

Once we were on the road again our spirits were lifted, much like our car, which now had four proper functioning wheels. As we continued down the road we saw a figure in the distance of the road. As we approached closer we saw that it was a large RV with a few people standing around outside. As we got even closer though, I recognized the blonde person with two buns on top of her head. At first I couldn't believe what I was seeing, it was Miley Cyrus. Apparently her tour bus had broken down and she was in desperate need of a ride to her venue. When we pulled over Miley stopped twerking for her group of friends and came up to the car. She explained that she would get us to Yosemite and even fly us all home and our van if we could get her to her venue on time. When she mentioned the flight home, I immediately jumped to the door and told her to get in and for my dad to step on the gas. Who would've thought that Miley Cyrus would be driving with us on our family road trip. We got Miley to her venue on time and as promised, she handed us plane tickets to go back to Texas and shipping information for the car, all arranged for after we visit Yosemite.

We were on the road again and this time with all four tires. The couple that helped us out were some of the strangest people I will ever encounter. As we continued our drive down the road we saw a random billboard for Disneyland, which was by no means a hop and a skip away. When Lily saw the sign she began to smile wildly, which made everyone else in the car smile. None of us had ever been to the happiest place on earth, as it is called. My mom, unexpectedly, as she is always the one who sticks to the plan, says to my father, "What do you think about trashing the Yosemite idea and taking the kids down to Disneyland?" My father's eyes got wide and he looked like a little kid on Christmas morning looking at a sea of presents. "Of course I want to go to Disneyland!!!" And with that, my dad pulled out the GPS changing the destination to Disneyland. Matt and Lily were ecstatic, I on the other hand tried to keep a neutral face, but on the inside I was secretly jumping for joy. After several more hours of driving we had arrived at the happiest place on earth and in that moment, my family and I were the happiest family on earth.

Driving for several more hours we had finally made it to Yosemite. This was not until, Lily threw her mashed carrots in my hair, Matt got car sick, Mom got sick from Matt's throw up. We spent nearly an hour just looking for a campsite. Apparently our reservation had gotten mixed up with another families and they were not prepared for us. Also, no one seemed to inform us that we were going to Yosemite the busiest weekend of the entire year. We sat in line to the entrance for almost 3 hours, lined up all the way down the winding tree lined road. Once we all got out of the car and stretched our legs, I was unimpressed by what was in front of me. Every tree looked the same, big and green. Tree after tree. The mountains surrounding us were cool, but after 15 minutes their mystique began to run out and I was ready to go home. The next three days were nothing, but boring. My time was spent outside of the tent tanning and attempting to zone out my parents and their constant want to go on another hike. Its safe to say that next year's family "vacation" I will be planning.
